About Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn McDermitt was born and raised in Jackson, New Jersey. She began her classical training at the Academy of Dance Arts under the direction of Jennifer James Church where she was a successful candidate of the Royal Academy of Dance examinations. She was a pre-professional dancer with The Company of Dance Arts where she performed lead roles such as Sugar Plum Fairy, Snow Queen, and Dew Drop Fairy in the Nutcracker, and Lilac Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty. During her training years, she attended summer intensive workshops at The Rock School, American Repertory Ballet, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Complexions Contemporary Ballet Intensive, and Ballet Austin.
In December of 2012, Kaitlyn graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BFA in Dance Performance where she performed works by George Balanchine, Adam Hougland, Millicent Johnnie, Max Stone, Jessica Lang, and Mel Tomlinson. Following graduation, she performed with Roxey Ballet in multiple pieces in I Love NJ and Diversity and the roles of Dew Drop Fairy, Arabian and Spanish in The Nutcracker and Bagherra in their world premier of Mowgli. In 2014, Kaitlyn moved to Dallas, Tx to dance with Avant Chamber Ballet where she performed roles such as Little Bird in Carnival of the Animals, Cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland, Scrooge in A Christmas Carol and debuted her choreography in their Women’s Choreography Project with First Look. Kaitlyn also had the opportunity to guest with AKA Ballet, Ballet North Texas, Bruce Wood Dance Company, Mary Kay, Southwest and DIFFA during her time in Dallas.
Kaitlyn has over 10 years of experience teaching ballet, pointe, pre-pointe, contemporary, jazz and stretch and strength at various studios and was a certified barre instructor for Xtend.
